Drag race winner Violet Chachki and break-out star Miss Fame have a long-standing collaborative relationship. Just last year they collaborated with makeup artistry icon Pat McGrath for her new line of pigments; they also appeared at New York Fashion week together and collectively slayed. They’re both beautiful, fashion forward, and really fucking talented at applying eyeliner. Chachki, an Atlanta-native, was kind enough to grant WUSSY front of the line access to her latest project with frequent creative partner and friend Miss Fame. The two combined their talents with photographer Ali Mahadavi, whose catalogue includes the headshots of Dita von Teese, Tilda Swinton, and Marilyn Manson.
Pairing a warehouse club-friendly beat with vintage fashions, expertly-placed lacefronts, and seemingly impossible heels, their penchant for good taste appears to know no bounds. The message is simple, they run the runway so please be good, sit, and watch. Compared to other Drag Race attempts at club bangers, this one has actual potential—it’s as good as Alaska 5000’s “Your Makeup is Terrible”—to weasel its way onto a DJ’s playlist.
WUSSY spoke with Ms. Chachki about the project, “Working with Ali Mahadavi was a dream come true! He truly understands what real glamour means, transforming yourself into the person you want to be through beauty. Naturally Miss Fame and I were drawn to this train of thought and aesthetic, and he to us. I will cherish this "I Run The Runway" forever!”
Keep your eyes out for more collaborations from Fame and Violet as well as their personal projects.
